Grand Nature Club Regulations

1- Schedule
1.1- Activities occur every two days according to an established schedule.
1.2- Most of the activities take place in Banff National Park, Yoho National Park, Kootenay National Park, Canmore and Kananaskis.
1.3- The schedule is on the Grand Nature Club website and posted in some workplaces, in partners businesses and at the Mount Royal Hotel.
1.4- The activity might be cancelled or trail or area scheduled might be changed for any reason: lack of reservations, bad weather, bear warning, poor trail condition...

2- Confirmations and cancellations
2.1- Participants must reserve their place for the activity on line at www.grandnatureclub.com, the day prior to the activity.
2.2- The activity takes place regardless of weather. Participants decide if they want to go or not.
2.3- Participants who have not reserved and have show up the day of the activity, member or not, would be considered as last in the organization and may not participate for different reason i.e. no room on the transportation.
2.4- People who have reserved and plan to be late, especially people who offer transportation, must inform the club, as soon as possible.

3- Meeting place
3.1- The Mount Royal Hotel (138 Banff Avenue • Banff) is the meeting place the morning before any planned activity. Persons who have confirmed must be at that meeting place 15 minutes before the time indicated, the day of the activity.
3.2- Participants must respect the rules set by the hotel (meeting place) and ensure that their presence does not cause any issues or conflicts.

4- Membership, cost and requirements
4.1- Participants must be 18 years old.
4.2- The fees are as follows (not including transportation) and exact change is required:
One activity: $3.40 / Three months membership: $15
4.3- Every member must show a picture ID to the club representative in order to participate in the activity for free.
4.4- Every participant, who has not paid for a membership, must pay for the activity as a non-member at the gathering point and show picture ID.
4.5- Every participant has to pay the admission at the recreation area (where applicable). The club is not responsible in the case of an offence.

5- Carpool
5.1- The participants have to organise the transportation to suit their needs and their conditions.
5.2- Passengers must give the driver the amount of money required by the club to cover the gas and car use for the transportation. Participants must get the exact amount.
5.3- Drivers must have a valid driver’s licence, car insurance and Banff National Park pass.
5.4- Drivers ensure that their driving and their vehicle respect the Highway Code.
5.5- Number of passengers per vehicle cannot exceed the number of seats normally available in the vehicle, depending on the car model.
5.6- In case of insufficient transport the day of the activity, participants can do activity on foot access or organize other transportation like taxis or bus.

6- On the trails
6.1- Every participant has to respect the regulations of the park and the recreation area, and behave with good manners.
6.2- A maximum of 10 participants per group is allowed on any kind of trails (not ski runs). In case of more than 10 participants, the group will be divided and will take different trails.
6.3- Every group names someone in the activity to lead and to be in charge of keeping the people together.
6.4- Participants have to takes existing trails or proposed routes described on official maps or documents.

7- Safety
7.1- Every participant is responsible for himself/herself and has to plan everything needed for his/her comfort and safety: clothes, water and food.
7.2- It is recommended that everybody participating have maps, first-aid kit, whistle and bear spray for safety.

8- Respect of the rules
Anybody who does not respect the rules above may have his/her membership cancelled or may be banned from the club.

9- Release of liability
In case of loss, damage, injury or expense that any participant may suffer inherent in their participation, participants waive certain legal rights, including the right to sue, and release the club from any and all liability.
